Clinical Dietitians For General Nutrition Support
Practical, evidence-based nutrition guidance. Free from diet culture, and built around your actual life.
We don't hand you a meal plan and call it done.
Somewhere between “eat more vegetables” and the rabbit hole of conflicting nutrition information online, it’s understandable if you’ve ended up more confused, more overwhelmed, and more wary of seeking help with food and eating than ever.
Whether you’re managing a chronic health condition, working through a new diagnosis, or simply tired of generic advice that doesn’t account for your health history, your relationship with food, your life circumstances, and your goals, our clinical dietitians offer tailored care with no weight-loss agenda attached.
The approach behind every appointment
Weight-inclusive
How you feel about your weight and the history you carry around it is a real and valid part of your relationship with food and your body. We won’t dismiss that or rush past it. And, we also don’t believe your body is a problem to be solved with weight loss, and we won’t treat it like one.
Trauma-informed
The relationship you have with food and your body today has been shaped by everything you’ve lived through. We understand that, and we hold it with care.
Neuro-affirming
Neurodivergence and ADHD interact with eating, hunger, and food in ways that standard nutrition advice simply wasn’t built for—because it was built around neurotypical assumptions. We work outside those.
Gender-affirming
Care that is genuinely inclusive of trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse people—including nutrition support specific to gender-affirming healthcare—without assumption, without awkwardness, and without you having to educate us first.
Social justice-oriented
Your relationship with food has been shaped by a lot more than personal choices. Diet culture, weight stigma, food access, systemic inequity — we understand the social and structural forces at play, and they inform how we work with you.

How clinical nutrition sessions work at Eat Love Live
We offer face-to-face consultations at our Collingwood clinic and Telehealth appointments for your convenience and comfort.
Your Initial Assessment
All therapeutic relationships begin with an initial assessment to understand your health history, your relationship with food, your life circumstances, and your goals.
There’s no fixed number of assessment sessions—a thorough picture sometimes takes more than one conversation before moving into planning and strategies.
Please note that the initial assessment fee applies to your first appointment only; subsequent sessions that form part of your assessment are charged at the standard review rate.
After your assessment, your dietitian will spend additional time formulating your care plan, connecting with any existing treatment team members, and completing relevant documentation. This work is reflected in the higher cost of initial appointments.
Review Sessions
Ongoing sessions are designed to check in, adjust strategies, track what’s working, and keep your nutrition care moving in the right direction. Your dietitian will discuss the most appropriate review frequency at your initial appointment.
Integrated Care
Where relevant, your dietitian coordinates with your psychologist, physiotherapist, GP, or other practitioners, so your care is coherent and consistent across the team.
Session fees
Sessions are 50 minutes of client-facing time, booked as 60 minutes in the calendar.
That additional time is when your clinician writes notes, liaises with your care team, and prepares for future sessions.
Dietitian Initial assessment – $255
Dietitian Standard Review – $240
Early Career Dietitian Initial assessment – $240
Early Career Dietitian Standard Review – $225

Frequently Asked Questions
You might be wondering...
What's the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
Accredited Practising Dietitians (APD) are recognised health professionals with the skills to convert scientific knowledge and research into practical strategies to improve health through diet and lifestyle.
APD’s work with individuals, groups or at a public health level. They have the skills to use nutrition and lifestyle modification to treat clinical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, allergy, and gastrointestinal issues.
APD’s must have undertaken university study accredited by the Dietitians Association of Australian and abide by DAA Code of Professional Conduct and Statement of Ethical Practice.
The title ‘nutritionist’ is not a protected term in Australia — it can be used by anyone, regardless of their training or qualifications.
How does the session structure work?
Sessions are 50 minutes of direct time with your clinician, booked as a 60-minute appointment. The additional time covers care coordination and documentation that happens on your behalf. For full details on fees, rebates, and how sessions work, visit our Fees & Policies page.
Do I need a referral to see a general dietitian?
No referral is required to book directly. However, if you’d like to access Medicare rebates, you’ll need your GP to arrange a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) before your first appointment.
Will my dietitian put me on a diet or recommend weight loss?
No. All of our dietitians work from a weight-inclusive, non-diet framework ; we recognise that weight is a non controllable measure often incorrectly used as a marker of health. As such, weight loss is not prescribed, and restrictive eating approaches are not part of our practice.
Can my dietitian help with weight loss or weight management?
We appreciate that sometimes people express body distress as a desire to lose weight and are able to hold space to explore this within the session. We aim to foster understanding of the reasons why you may be feeling like changing your body is the answer, but we will not encourage weight loss as a solution.
If your goals are focused on weight loss, we respect that. You may be curious about weight loss medications or feel weight loss is necessary for improved health.
We’re able to provide evidence-based information about what does and does not impact health, and can provide dietary education aimed at addressing specific health concerns. This education may or may not lead to weight loss (we cannot guarantee that as an outcome), but they will support improved health, well being and longevity.
We can hold space for these complex conversations, exploring all the different aspects contributing to this desire and providing evidence based education if needed.
We respect body autonomy and your choice to pursue body changes. Please know that we won’t make suggestions to support weight loss goals or celebrate body changes.
Bodies are complex, and so is our stance on weight loss. You are welcome to ‘try us on for size’ at an initial consultation; discuss this further and then make the decision if we are the right fit for you or not.
How many dietitian appointments will I need?
It depends on your goals and your situation. Some people benefit from a handful of sessions; others prefer longer-term care for complex or chronic conditions. You will collaborate with your dietitian during your initial assessment to come up with a plan that works for you.
Are telehealth appointments available?
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available across Australia. Medicare rebates apply in the same way as in-person sessions, with a valid care plan.
Do you work with eating disorders?
Yes, eating disorder care is at the heart of what we do at Eat Love Live. Please head on over to our nutrition counselling for eating disorders page for more details on how we work, what to expect, and who on our team is best placed to support you.
