Taking the step to see a dietitian can come with a lot of mixed emotions. If you’ve spent years caught in the cycle of dieting, you might expect a nutrition appointment to involve weigh-ins, calorie counting, and a strict list of “good” and “bad” foods.
At Eat Love Live, we do things differently. Here is exactly what you can expect when it comes to how we approach weight, health, and your care.
A Non-Diet, Weight-Inclusive Framework
The short answer is no. None of our dietitians will put you on a restrictive diet or prescribe weight loss.
All of our practitioners work from a weight-inclusive, non-diet framework. This means we focus on health-promoting behaviors, body respect, and healing your relationship with food, rather than a number on a scale. Restrictive eating approaches are not part of our practice because we know they do not support long-term physical or mental well-being.
What If My Goals Are Focused on Weight Loss?
We completely understand and respect that you may come to us with weight loss goals.
In a culture that constantly tells us our bodies need fixing, it is entirely normal to want weight loss. You might be curious about new weight loss medications, or you might genuinely feel that changing your body size is necessary for improved health or comfort.
We don’t shut those feelings down. We are here to hold space for these complex, nuanced conversations. Together, we can explore all the different aspects contributing to this desire and provide compassionate, evidence-based education to help you navigate it.
Respecting Your Autonomy
Above all, we respect your body autonomy and your right to make choices about your own body.
Please note: While we respect your personal desires, our clinical stance means we won’t make suggestions to support weight loss goals, nor will we celebrate body changes. Our focus remains steadfastly on your overall health, nourishment, and relationship with food.
Not Sure If We’re the Right Fit?
We appreciate that bodies, body size, and our relationship with weight are deeply complex. Because of this, our stance on weight loss might feel a little different from what you’ve experienced in the healthcare system before.
If you aren’t sure if our approach aligns with what you need right now, you are so welcome to “try us on for size.”
Book an initial consultation with us to experience how we work, discuss your concerns openly, and then decide if we are the right team to support you on your journey. There is no pressure—just a safe space to explore what true nourishment means for you.
