What is music therapy?

Music therapy is a creative therapy used to improve human wellbeing. An instrument for healing, self-expression and personal growth, music therapy allows clients to explore emotions, reduce stress and better understand themselves through the likes of songwriting and lyric substitution, lyrical analysis, playlist creation, therapeutic singing and chanting and music-assisted relaxation.

Music Therapy At EAT LOVE LIVE

We are so excited to have final year music therapy student, Madeleine Chiodo, join us for placement in 2023!

Madeleine is a kind, sensitive and compassionate music therapy student studying at the University of Melbourne.

She has supported a range of populations during her placements including: autism, NDIS, palliative care patients and adults with intellectual disabilities as she thoroughly enjoys helping people.

While at Eat Love Live, Madeleine will be providing:

  • 1:1 music therapy sessions, Free of Charge.
  • She will host a group that will run for 8 weeks; Free of Charge.
  • Maddy will also be working with the ELL team to facilitate music based supervision which we are really looking forward to.

Madeleine sought an organisation that reflects her lived experience, particularly related to food intolerances and allergies. Furthermore, she uses her knowledge of music to empower efforts of resilience building and confidence in people, thus supporting each stage of the recovery journey. She hopes to share her love of music therapy practice and openly experience the journey towards recovery with those she can support.
