 August 28-30th the annual ANZAED conference was held in Naarm/ Melbourne.   ELL had a number of team members attending, learning and networking, so they can better support our clients. 
ELL was also well represented in the program with many team members presenting.

 Overcoming barriers and challenges within an MDT when working in community and private settings- Pre conference workshop. 

 

Jo, Christie and Rebecca presented along side Natasha Hepworth and Dr Suba Roudolf to a wonderful group. Exploring all the ways multi disciplinary  teams can do better to support their clients 

Dance movement therapy and talk therapy for clients in fat bodies- Oral presentation 

Jessica Green and Hadassah David presented the positive data about Eat Love Live's Dance therapy group.

Bec then backed up her workshop with an excellent discussion exploring the intersection of POTS, Gastrointestinal conditions and peri/ menopause with Eating disorders. 

 

NEDC Breakfast: “A Conversation on Collaboration: Strengthening the System Together“

Panellists: Gloria Fraser, Lumen Gorrie, Amy Woods, Leah Brennan & Bliss Jackman
Bliss talked about the importance of relationship as the basis of collaboration to advance the ED field. 

Bringing lived experience into the classroom: An evaluation of a creative approach to lived experience eating disorder education for nursing and dietetic students- oral presentation. 

Christie talked about a novel and successful model education - bringing lived experience narratives into the learning space as a way of helping nursing and dietetic students understand eating disorders and compassionate care.   

 

A highlight was a Keynote Presentation: “A catalyst for change: the opportunity of Lived Experience leadership and transformation” by Katie Larsen of Mind.

Katie Larsen is Executive Director Lived Experience at Mind Australia and a PhD candidate at Deakin University. She leads systemic change through lived experience leadership, co-production, and equity. With a background in journalism and social work, Katie brings a strong social justice lens informed by her mental health and LGBTIQ+ lived experience.

Katie invited the Eating disorder to reflect on current practice and listen to the consumers we are supporting.
